013 CIFF First Edition Hit ‘Clean Up’ Available for Online Viewing!

29 May 2020

From day one, part of our mandate at the 013 Cinecitta International Film Festival has been to expand the scope of the traditional arthouse cinema/film festival via the distribution of films that have shown at the festival. So, in a unique move for a single cinema, Cinecitta is happy to announce that the 2019 013 CIFF South Korean hit Clean Up will be available for streaming as of today! Go to https://picl.nl/films/clean-up and enter the world of this remarkable film*, which shared the Best Film award in the New Currents section of the prestigious Busan International Film Festival in 2018.

A directorial debut from the young Kwon Man-ki, Clean Up is a tense, visually splendid drama focusing on Jing-ju (Yoon Ji-hye), a dour, hard-drinking member of a cleaning team that handles everything from highway tunnels to blood-spattered crime scenes. She’s a woman with a dark past and an even darker secret. When 18-year-old ex-convict Min-gu (excellent newcomer Kim Dae-gun) joins the cleaning company, Jung-ju is horrified to recognise him—and deeply afraid that he will recognise her… The stage has thus been set for a shattering confrontation with the past. ‘Impressive… Clean Up potently examines feelings of grief, guilt, and redemption…’—Richard Kuipers, Variety

And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the second edition of the 013 Cinecitta International Film Festival, running from October 22-25 at Cinecitta.
